History: (Optional)
Houdini was born into a small herd, led by his father an his mother. His childhood name was His father was the strong hand, his mother more the soft spoken type. He worked hard to please them both, as he was likely the heir, unless something were to happen. Unfortunately, something did. Humans had moved into the area, and they had their greedy eyes set on him. When he was still young, a group of men roped him. He was taken to a barn, an lived there for a while before figuring out how to open the gates. That is where he earned his name, Houdini, after a famed human escape artist. Throughout the years, the colt was caught and locked up, escaping every time. The humans had even more desire as the colt grew into a breathtaking and powerful stallion. They called him the Gypsy King, always in awe of his beauty and prowess. Finally one group of people caught him, and locked him in a stall, rimmed with 2 fences, and inside a barn which was also circled with a fence or two. He escaped parts, but the humans always got him before he escaped fully, and he was given his Shamrock brand, letting other people know that this male was theirs. He waited, biding his time for the humans to make a mistake, and gaining their trust when really planning on escape. Soon came the perfect day, in the middle of a hot and dry summer. The humans had gone off to the river to cool off, and Houdini began to unlock the gates. He was not fast enough though, for as he worked, a fire sparked outside the barn. He smelled something strange, and looked up to see a raging fire right through his escape path. He frantically spun around, but the set-up in the barn was so he couldn't run fast enough to jump the fence. He moved toward the flame, hoping to get through before it got too big, but a large wooden support fell on him, and burned him. He pulled away, and in complete terror, ran, plowing through the fences that had blocked his escape in the past. He ran to the end of the barn, and smashed through the wall with all his might. Anyone watching would have been in complete awe of the stallion, mane and pelt flecked with embers and flames. He ran, putting out most of the flames, and a thick downpour began, soothing his stinging burns. He fell in the middle of a meadow, collapsing into sleep. He woke to a sunny day, and after that began to regain strength, staying away from humans as much as possible. He didn't want a repeat experience, but luckily, the humans thought he had perished in the fire. Eventually, his fur returned, covering his old burns. He was strong once again, and the humans caught sight of him. At first they thought he was a ghost, but soon realized that the strong beast had escaped the would-be funeral pyre. They regained their desire for the majestic stallion, but never got the chance to recapture him, because the fog arrived.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:
Thundering hooves beat the ground like a fast paced drum. A piebald stallion ran down the beach, leaving only deep and sliding footprints in his wake. A dense rain showered down from the sky, and he loved it. It was Houdini, otherwise known as the Gypsy King, a huge horse standing a towering 20 hands high. He lifted his broad head to let loose a wild neigh. He reared up, kicking his forelegs out in a fast motion, and landed back down. He was enjoying this storm. He continued his run, reveling in the sound of his running combined with the pounding rain, and the feel on his skin. suddenly, a break in the clouds opened, letting light of the day shine through, and the storm quickly faded. Houdini tossed his head, and shook the water from his fur, before heading away from the beach. He loped away from the crashing waves, and headed into a forest. He whinnied once more as he entered a well lit clearing. He moved to lay in the center, where the sun would heat his fur. He sighed, lowering his head to drift into sweet sleep.
